I had a great afternoon photographing the pre-wedding photoshoot of Rachel & Fernando at the stunning Fountains Abbey on Wednesday.  Fountains Abbey is a beautiful location for a photoshoot with so many areas for photography, ideal for wedding and engagement photoshoots. Rachel & Fernando were great together and very relaxed.  Being late on Wednesday afternoon the abbey was fairly quiet so we had full use of the grounds.  Although a little overcast for the most part, the lighting is excellent at Fountains Abbey.  The contrast of the stonework and the lush green of the trees, I can capture some timeless artistic and natural photographs.

Rachel & Fernando are to marry in July.  They are having a church ceremony followed by a wedding reception at Allerton Castle Weddings, another stunning location, great for photography.  I very much look forward to their wedding day and in the meantime here is a selection of highlights from their engagement photoshoot.

The first of two pre-wedding photoshoots today was the photoshoot of Beth & Greg in the very picturesque village of Kettlewell in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.  Although I have had a Skype call with Beth & Greg previously, this is the first time I have met them in person as they currently live in the US.  Beth is originally from Yorkshire and they chose to marry in the Yorkshire Dales as she visited the area on several occasions as a child.  Kettlewell is a lovely location for a photoshoot, though we were somewhat hampered by the weather which was very overcast and soon began to rain.  It was unfortunately as it would have been great to explore more of the area.

Beth & Greg marry on Friday so we were able to discuss the details of their wedding day.  They are a lovely relaxed couple and I am very much looking forward to photographing their wedding on Friday.  In the meantime here is a selection of highlights from the pre-wedding photoshoot for you to enjoy.

What a fantastic day for the wedding of Claire & Steve at Allerton Castle.  It is always a pleasure to photograph an Allerton Castle wedding, and Claire & Steve are a great couple.  You may recall their Lotherton Hall Engagement Shoot a few weeks ago at Lotherton Hall.  With a relatively late ceremony at 3pm, the morning preparations were really relaxed which is indicative of Claire & Steve’s personalities.  As the apprehension grew as we neared the ceremony time, Claire & Steve simply enjoyed the moment.  The ceremony went perfectly and North Yorkshire Registration Service are always easy to work with.

Despite poor weather in the morning, it kept fine for their ceremony and reception so they were able to make the most of the outside space at Allerton.  Although there were quite a number of formal group photographs to work through, we worked through them efficiently with the help of Steve’s brother and ushers, and with the help of the staff of Dine Services, Claire & Steve had time to have some time to themselves to take it all in and catch up with what each other had been doing in the morning, whilst I captured some lovely intimate moments between the two of them.

It was great to work again with Dine Services and The Event Music Company,  as well as to work with Big Bear Weddings and Natasha Jane Events.

Claire & Steve are now on honeymoon and I wish them a fabulous time.  Some highlights from Claire & Steve’s wedding are below and I look forward to hearing from them in due course to create their album design.

This weekend saw me photograph at a new venue to me, namely Ettington Park Hotel near Stratford-upon-Avon.  A stunning location for a wedding and an idyllic wedding day for Fozia & Robert, who planned to wed in the bell tower ruins, but due to the weather the ceremony was moved initially to the library, and through good fortune a last minute decision was made for the ceremony to be held in the orangery.  Considering the weather conditions on the morning of the wedding it looked highly unlikely that any opportunity would be made to make use of the grounds and any external space, but an hour before the wedding ceremony was due to take place the sun came out and for the most part remained a lovely day, apart from the occasional sharp April shower.  I was pleased for Fozia & Robert that this was the case as they had planned for and hoped the weather would be kind to them as the grounds at Ettington Park are very picturesque with the River Stour running meandering by the hotel.

With select family and friends in attendance this was a lovely intimate wedding and a pleasure to photograph.  Following their pre-wedding photoshoot a couple of weeks ago at Fountains Abbey, both Fozia & Robert were very relaxed on their wedding day.  There was little apprehension in the morning preparations with everyone enjoying themselves and looking forward to the day ahead.  The result was a well organised and lovely wedding day which was a pleasure to photograph.

Fozia has been taken away for a secretly planned honeymoon by Robert and I wish them a lovely time.  I look forward to speaking with them when they return and to creating their album design.  In the meantime here are some highlights from their wedding day for you to enjoy.

Fountains Abbey, a fabulous National Trust location for a photoshoot and for the engagement shoot of Fozia & Robert who are to marry at Ettington Park Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon next week.  Despite the forecast showing no rain, simply overcast, the weather did not look good when we set out to explore the ground of the Cistercian abbey and the Georgian water garden.  We did however make the most of the stunning scenery and available light to capture some lovely intimate moments between Fozia & Robert.

Their wedding plans sound idyllic with them hoping to marry in the Bell Tower at Ettington Park Hotel, weather permitting.  I sincerely hope the weather is kind to them on their wedding day and I am very much looking forward to photographing their day.

In the meantime here is a selection of highlights from their pre-wedding photoshoot for you to enjoy.

I had a fantastic day on Saturday for the wedding of Hannah & Hector at St Benedict’s Church, Ampleforth & Marquee at The Windmill.  It was a very relaxed and calm atmosphere, being well organised and thoroughly enjoyable.  With a Scottish theme with Hector’s family being from Scotland, the day started off very wet and overcast, but true to the forecast it stopped raining whilst the wedding ceremony was taking place.  Although it never really brightened up, it was very pleasant in a beautiful location.  The valley at Ampleforth is stunning and and the marquee made full use of the views across the valley having one side of the marquee clear so everybody could enjoy the stunning location.

Hannah & Hector had a fantastic time and it was a pleasure to be a part of their day.  When I first met Hannah & Hector, neither were initially keen on having their photograph taken, but on the day they were very relaxed about it, and realised how discrete and unobtrusive my way of photographing a wedding is.  I can give as much or as little direction to a couple as they desire on their day, in order to fit in with their expectations of what they want from their wedding photographer.  In this sense for the most part I stayed very much in the background apart from when organising the formal group line-ups, and captured some great memories of Hannah & Hectors special day.

I wish them a great time on their honeymoon and look forward to hearing from them in due course.

We had a lovely morning for the pre-wedding photoshoot of Claire & Steve at Lotherton Hall.  I have only been to Lotherton Hall once for a pre-wedding photoshoot previously and before that it had been well over 20 years since I have been to Lotherton Hall so it was interesting to visit, and great to spend some time with Claire & Steve.  We spent a very pleasant time exploring the gardens and grounds of Lotherton Hall to capture some natural photographs of them enjoying the day and taking it easy spending some time together.  I encourage couples to have some time to themselves on their wedding day exploring the grounds of their wedding venue, as although couples are together on their wedding day, they rarely get much time just to themselves.  The wedding day also goes by so quickly, so for the couple to have a little time to themselves on their wedding day is often highly appreciated and allows me to capture some lovely intimate moments between them.

Claire & Steve are due to marry in May at Allerton Castle so I am very much looking forward to photographing their wedding day.  Here is a selection of highlights from their pre-wedding photoshoot.
