Middleton Lodge was the beautiful venue for this weekend’s wedding for the marriage of Jennifer & Scott. A lovely country hotel wedding set in woodland, it is a beautiful location for a wedding. You may recall Jennifer & Scott had their pre-wedding photoshoot back in March in Topcliffe on a fairly cold blustery day. In contrast this weekend they were blessed with beautiful weather, apart from an overcast spell during their drinks reception. Although an overcast day makes it easy for photography, sunlight can make for some stunning photographs. The colours in the trees and greenery are so much more vibrant in direct sunlight than when it is overcast. I love photographing into the light and some of the photographs of the two of them walking along the driveway to Middleton Lodge are simply stunning as a result of the light.
I also like shooting the couple from low angles as it makes for a much more interesting shot than simply photographing standing at my full height. This is especially so when photographing children. If you photograph children at their height the photographs look so much better and it is much easier to reduce the likelihood of converging verticals. This is where the vertical lines (straight walls) bend in to each other. Converging verticals can be interesting in some ways but in others they make for a poor quality photograph, so wherever possible I like verticals to be straight.
Jennifer & Scott’s wedding day was a lovely day and I thoroughly enjoyed it. They have some great family and friends who made me feel very welcome indeed and the result are reflected in the beautiful photographs taken. A selection of which are below for you to enjoy.
