A busy week this week with the first of four pre-wedding photoshoots taking place at Rountree Park in York for Jo & Nick. What a week to be able to photograph Jo & Nick, with beautiful summers day weather, the photographs are so much nicer when the weather is nice. As a photographer who shoots everything on ‘manual’ setting on the camera a sunny day is much more difficult to get the exposure correct. With very bright highlights and very dark shadows, a camera cannot cope with the two extremes. It is only through experience and a thorough understanding of how the camera works can a professional photographer capture photographs to their best. Some photographers simply prefer a dull day as the exposure is so much easier, but you cannot beat the vibrant stunning colours on a glorious summers day. The whole photograph comes to life.
A summers day also tends to bring people into the park and there were a lot of people enjoying the glorious weather. However for a pre-shoot it is better to concentrate on the couple and try to avoid others being in the photograph, and the resultant photographs taken do not show there to be many people about at all.
It was great to work with Jo & Nick and find out what they are planning for their wedding day. They have a church ceremony in July with wedding reception at the Merchant Adventurers Hall in York. Here’s hoping for a beautiful summers day as it was for them today. In the meantime here is a selection of some of the photographs taken from their pre-shoot.
