Carlton Towers was the venue of choice for Nicola & John this weekend for their beautiful wedding day. A stunning Gothic style house located in the village of Carlton south of Selby, Carlton Towers is a very picturesque and photogenic venue, and one that I look forward to working at. Nicola & John initially had their wedding ceremony at St Mary’s Church in Hook near Goole. A quaint church located in Nicola’s home village. Hook is not a village that will be familiar to most being a village located on the outskirts of Goole, located on the banks of the Ouse just before it meets the Humber estuary.
Nicola & John organised a great wedding day. They are a very laid back and easy going couple who thoroughly enjoy being together. The music during the entrance and exit to the church was memorable along with the reading given by both Nicola & John’s brother’s. The speeches were also a highlight of the day and the photographs certainly capture the smiles and laughter, to give you an essence of what was spoken.
With Nicola & John living in London and me being a wedding photographer in York, it was not possible to meet with Nicola & John prior to their wedding day. However we had spoken via Skype which is a great alternative to having a meeting face-to-face, and worked a treat. Nicola & John were recommended to me by a couple whose wedding I photographed in 2006, Kirsten & Jamie, and it was great to see them again. Kirsten created the stunning cake and sweet display which was truly remarkable as it is not something she does full-time, though I would highly encourage her to do so as it was amazing.
If you are planning a wedding then I can tell you that Nicola’s bridal dress was supplied by Scarlet Poppy of Leeds, the flowers were by the ‘Cottage Flower Shop’ in Snaith, and the band was organised through Alive Network Entertainment.
