What a fantastic day was to be had on Saturday for the wedding of Gemma & Stephen at St Peter’s Church in Addingham with wedding reception at Ripley Castle. You may recall Gemma & Stephen’s pre-wedding photoshoot at Ripley Castle a few weeks ago where I posted some photographs here on my blog.
Who would have thought looking at the weather forecast earlier in the week that the day would turn out to be as good as it was. Despite a couple of heavy showers, and very dark skies at times, the day was great. The moody sky and sunlight that made an appearance for the wedding reception part of the day, made for some interesting photography. I know I mention weather quite a lot in my blog, but light can make all the difference between a good photograph and something quite special and unique. Working with light can be challenging at times, but as a professional wedding photographer the weather is something I have no control over, so I have to use my creativity and skill to work with the light (and sometimes lack of light).
Gemma & Stephen organised a superb, thoroughly enjoyable day. Even though there was a heavy downpour of rain, all the formal group photographs were conducted outside, and I was able to take some stunning photographs of the couple down by the lake. I have to thank Gemma for braving the slightly wet, and, in places, muddy grassland to allow us to capture the photographs they both wanted with the lake and Ripley Castle in the background. The results were truly worth the trouble of doing so. They have some great friends and family who made me feel exceptionally welcome throughout the day, and as a result I very much enjoyed the day.
Gemma & Stephen are away on honeymoon at the moment and I wish them a wonderful time. In the meantime some details to help in the planning of your wedding day is that Gemma’s beautiful bridal gown was supplied by Harrogate Wedding Lounge, the delicate stunning floral displays and bouquets were by Anne Adams of Addingham, the Car and Chauffeur was supplied by Dovecote Wedding Cars of Whitley Bridge, and the string quartet was organised by Jean Hotton of Pavilion Music.
Do not forget to have a look at Gemma & Stephen’s pre-wedding photoshoot in the ‘pre-wedding’ section of my blog, and here is a selection of highlights from Gemma & Stephen’s wedding day for you to enjoy.
