I had fabulous day on Friday photographing the wedding of Holly and Richard at St Robert’s Church and The Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate. Holly and her four bridesmaids had quite a relaxing morning preparing for the wedding at Holly’s parents house, before travelling to the church in Harrogate. Holly and her father travelled in his stunning TVR Griffith making quite an entrance.
The interior of the church was stunning and light and very conducive to photography. With a balcony at the rear of the church I was able to get some height to take an impressive photograph of Holly and her father walking down the aisle as they entered the church and Richard seeing Holly for the first time. Although not the family’s normal church or worship, which is currently undergoing renovation, St Robert’s Church was an excellent choice for an alternative location, being only five minutes away from the reception.
Following the ceremony photographs of the couple were taken in the valley gardens, where the weather held off to capture some lovely intimate moments. It gave the couple 20 minutes or so to take time to take it all in, and to catch up with each other on what each other had been doing in the morning. I think this time is valuable, and a great way to combine the couple having this time, and for me to capture some discrete, unobtrusive photographs of them together. You may recall Holly and Richard’s pre-wedding photoshoot in Knaresborough which gave the couple a taster of how I work, and gave us the opportunity to get to know each other a little better so that on their wedding day the couple are more relaxed with having their photograph taken.
The Old Swan Hotel has some impressive period art deco architecture and caters well for a wedding day. Needless to say everyone had a fantastic time and the photographs certainly capture that. It was also a pleasure to meet with the bride’s mother again as I have known Shirley for quite a number of years, but it has been a little while since we last met.
I wish Holly and Richard a fantastic time on their honeymoon and I look forward to creating their wedding album design in due course. In the meantime here is a selection of highlights from their wedding day for you to enjoy.
