A Wedding Day is a momentous moment for any couple as it is the beginning of their married life together. All the long months planning transforms into a wonderful day. The wedding photographer is there to preserve the important memories that will remain with you forever.

Here are 7 special memories to photograph:

  1. Bride’s hair & makeup

This pre-wedding photograph marks the time in a girl’s life where her childhood wedding dreams are coming true.

  1. Bride & her bridesmaids

A bride and her bridesmaids in full wedding dress is an amazing sight to behold. Consider the composition and where you want everyone to sit or stand.

  1. Groom & his groomsmen

This memory can be captured in a number of different ways. It all depends on what kind of groom you are. The top two ways are: 1) formal & composed, 2) comical & relaxed.

  1. Bride & Groom sealing marriage with a kiss

This is the best memory a couple can have- the moment where they seal their marriage with a kiss. This is one of the most photographed moments in a Wedding ceremony so capture yours!

  1. Bride & Groom at their venue

The wedding venue is a place of exceptional meaning for the newlyweds. Whether it is their family church or a stately home they’ve admired it is now a place of great significance. Be sure to mark the moment with a beautiful photograph.

  1. Bride & Groom with their parents

Seeing their children getting married is a proud day for any parent. This memory symbolises the moment where two families come together to witness the creation of a new one.

  1. Bride & Groom with all their guests

What would a wedding be without its guests? Friends and family make your day special. A fantastic way of recording this is to have the photograph taken from above with all the guests together.

Friday was a fantastic day as I photographed the wedding of Steph & James at St Mary’s RC Church in Rothwell, followed by their wedding reception at the stunning location of The Mansion, Leeds in Roundhay Park, Leeds.  The Mansion is managed by Dine Services who are excellent at organising weddings and have a lot of experience of doing so.  They manage several high class venues in Yorkshire, with The Mansion being one of them.  It is certainly one of the best venues in Leeds and always a pleasure to work at.

Steph & James organised a lovely day.  I had previously photographed their engagement shoot at Lotherton Hall a few weeks ago and was very much looking forward to photographing their wedding as a result.  Being a Friday, Roundhay Park was quieter than it would normally have been on a lovely spring day on a Saturday so I was able to capture some great photographs of the two of them as they took a stroll through Roundhay Park to explore some areas of the park new to me.  I like the opportunity to photograph something new and interesting and new location really test my creativity.  Using the light and good composition with limited time, I captured some great photographs which can be seen below.

Steph & James are currently on honeymoon and I wish them the best time.  They are a great couple and it was an absolute pleasure to photograph their wedding day.  In the meantime here is a selection of highlights from their wedding day for you to enjoy.

What a fantastic day and beautiful rural location for the wedding of Amy & James at Dockray, just North of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District.  They could not have asked for a better day for early April.  Lake Ullswater was like a millpond, extremely calm with little wind.  The church was a very quaint traditional church within walking distance of Dockray and an ideal location for my style of wedding photography as I very much enjoy rural weddings.  James is the brother of Laura whose wedding I photographed almost three years ago when she married Graham at Laura’s home church in Copmanthorpe before going on to Harewood House for a marquee reception.  It was great to see Laura & Graham again and to be a part of the wedding of Amy & James.

You may recall Amy & James had their pre-wedding photoshoot at Brimham Rocks a few weeks ago on a very misty and damp Saturday morning.  We had an enjoyable time, with some interesting and atmospheric photographs taken as a result.

Amy & James are currently on honeymoon and I look forward to hearing from them when they return.  In the meantime here is a selection of photographs from their wedding day for you to enjoy.

This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Ashleigh & Andrew at Sandburn Hall located between York and Malton.  You may recall a few months ago their pre-wedding photoshoot photographs at Fountains Abbey.  It was great to be a part of their special day and to photograph the day for them.  They are a lovely couple.  Both were very relaxed and calm prior to the wedding ceremony, and they have some great friends and family to share their special day with them.  With plenty of time allowed for them to enjoy their drinks reception, the whole day had a relaxed atmosphere as everybody thoroughly enjoyed the day.  The photographs therefore reflect what a lovely day it was.

Ashleigh & Andrew are currently on honeymoon.  I look forward to seeing them when they return and in the meantime here is a selection of highlights from their wedding day.

What a lovely sunny winter’s day for the wedding of Kay & Richard in the beautiful market town of Helmsley.  Who would have believed after having been a wet and drizzly day on Thursday, that Friday would turn out to be clear blue skies and relatively mild for the time of year.  Kay & Richard married at the Church of All Saints in the heart of Helmsley before moving on to The Black Swan overlooking the market place.  They are situated next door to each other so it made things relatively easy with guests not having to travel far between the two locations.

Kay & Richard are a lovely couple.  Both were very relaxed prior to the wedding ceremony and were great to photograph.  They have some great friends and family and they had a thoroughly enjoyable day.  With the lovely mild weather we managed to take most of the formal group photographs outside, and Kay & Richard had a little time out to have some time together where I stayed in the background for the most part and captured some lovely intimate photographs of the two of them.

They are currently having a few days away in Venice and I wish them a wonderful time.  In the meantime here is a selection of highlights from their wedding day and I look forward to catching up with them when they return.

For the last wedding of the year I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Catherine & Anthony at the beautiful Goldsborough Hall.  With 162 guests this was a relatively large wedding so we were very fortunate the weather was conducive to allow group photographs to be taken outside.  The weather was indeed lovely considering the time of year and despite it being cold it was a clear, bright day.  I was so pleased for Catherine & Anthony that they had such a lovely day for their wedding, especially after a rather dull day with a little rain on their pre-wedding photoshoot which you may recall took place in the grounds of the stunning Fountains Abbey.

Goldsborough Hall looked particularly festive with the Christmas decorations.  It is always a delight working at Goldsborough Hall and, as always, it looked stunning.  The newly weds took time out to have a look around the grounds and spend some time together whilst I captured some lovely intimate photographs of the two of them.  Due to the low light of the sun, the photographs taken captured some of the lovely colour of the foliage in the woodland at Goldsborough.  I know some photographers prefer not to photograph winter weddings as from a photographers point-of-view they are more difficult than a summer wedding, but to me the creativity of having to work with different light and different situations makes my job much more interesting.  I have no doubt that had it been a rainy day all the photographs would have had to be taken inside, which would have made for a much more difficult situation in which to photograph, particularly with the number of guests.  Fortunately when a winter’s day is cold yet clear, the sunlight being lower in the sky, I can work with the light to make for some beautiful photographs.

Catherine & Anthony are on their honeymoon and due to return in a week’s time.  I wish them a lovely time and I look forward to hearing from them in due course regarding the photographs for their wedding album.  In the meantime here are some highlights from their wedding for you to enjoy.

Aldwark Manor Christmas Wedding, Trudy & Stuart, Yorkshire Wedding Photographer

What better way to spend Christmas Eve than by photographing a very intimate wedding with a lovely couple and their guests at Aldwark Manor Hotel.  It was one of the most relaxed weddings I have photographed, and the couple were such a joy to work with and photograph.  With a total wedding party of 9, and with everything being held at Aldwark Manor with no travelling involved, it was a very relaxed and stress free day, and the weather was very kind to them also.  We were therefore able to take some photographs of Trudy & Stuart outside, though with the time of year it was particularly cold and the light began to fade rather quickly, though this made for some lovely photographs of the two of them.  There was also a Christmassy feel to Aldwark Manor with a Christmas tree in the entrance way, and Christmas decorations adorning the fireplaces, which were all lit to make for a very cosy evening for their wedding breakfast.

Despite Aldwark being only 10 minutes from where I live, and with them hosting weddings throughout the year, I rarely photograph at Aldwark which is a shame as it is a lovely venue for a wedding.  They have some great facilities including golf course, spa, swimming pool and gym.  With accommodation for guests and being located in a rural setting, it really is a lovely wedding venue, and one I enjoy working at.

Trudy & Stuart are enjoying a few days away in Budapest for their honeymoon over the New Year period, I wish them a wonderful time and a great New Year.  I very much look forward to catching up with them when they return and creating their wedding album.  Here is a selection of highlights from their wedding day for you to enjoy.

What another fantastic day for the wedding of Eleanor & Shahin at the stunning setting of Goldsborough Hall.  Always an enjoyable venue to work at with exclusive use for the wedding party, Goldsborough Hall has been recently restored and is continuing to be improved by Mark and Claire through their continuing commitment to offer a very personal and top quality service for the discerning client.  It goes hand in hand with the service I offer my clients and as a result I thoroughly enjoy working at Goldsborough.  Eleanor & Shahin had a church service in York with their reception at Goldsborough Hall.  I met them for their pre-wedding photoshoot a couple of month ago in Museum Gardens and got to know them a little better so that on their wedding day we knew each other and they were comfortable having their photograph taken.

At this time of year the daylight is against us in order to take photographs outdoors.  With it getting dark at 3:45pm, there is limited time for both photographs of the couple and also for any formal group photographs required.  Often one or both have to be arranged indoors, though natural light in my opinion, is much better than artificial light.  On this occasion with it being a lovely clear day the light was stunning for the photographs of the couple as we headed into the woodland at Goldsborough to benefit from the gorgeous sunset.  The result was a lovely warm light that came through in the photographs, and despite losing the light somewhat during the formal group line-ups, we managed to get through all the photographs Eleanor & Shahin wanted as well as a large group photograph of all their guests.

I wish Eleanor & Shahin a wonderful Christmas and look forward to hearing from them in due course regarding the photographs they would like for their wedding album.  In the meantime here is a selection of highlights from their wedding day.
