Maria and Craig, The Old Swan Hotel Wedding, Harrogate Wedding Photographer

Yesterday I had the very great pleasure of photographing the wedding of Maria and Craig at St Mary’s RC Church in Knaresborough followed by their reception at The Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate.  The Old Swan Hotel is a traditional style of hotel with period art deco features which make it a lovely venue for wedding.  Based very near the centre of Harrogate town, close to Valley Gardens, we made the most of the location to take some lovely photographs of the couple enjoying the afternoon sunshine.  Who would have expected the day to turn out so nice when the morning was so wet, but on cue as the wedding got underway out came the sun for a lovely sunny winter wedding day.  Although it is seen that bright sunlight is not ideal for wedding photography, being a Harrogate Wedding Photographer I love it when it is bright sunlight.  As a photographer it is more challenging, but the results are so much more vibrant.  It allows a photographer to be much more creative and to know and understand how to use and control a camera in order to get the best out the bright light.

Maria and Craig are a lovely couple who I have very much enjoyed getting to know a little.  You may recall they had their pre-wedding photoshoot in the grounds of Ampleforth Abbey and College a few weeks ago as there is a link between Ampleforth and St Mary’s RC Church in Knaresborough.  Fr William from Ampleforth is the parish priest at St Mary’s so their pre-wedding photoshoot location was well considered and appropriate to tie in with their wedding day.  It was also lovely to meet Anna again, their daughter, who despite being very young, coped remarkably well for the entire wedding day and was not phased by all the attention she received.  It was also nice for Maria to have her sister Charlotte as her Maid of Honour, and Craig his brother Sean as his best man.  Their wedding cars were also a highlight being a stretch limo VW Beetle, and a VW Camper Bus very tastefully converted specifically to cater for weddings, provided by The Yorkshire Wedding Car Company.

Maria and Craig are to have a few days in the Lakes and I wish them a wonderful honeymoon.  I look forward to hearing from them in due course regarding the photographs they would like for their wedding album.  In the meantime here is a selection of highlights from their wedding day for you to enjoy.

Sophie and Robert, Goldsborough Hall Wedding, Exclusive Wedding Photography

I had the pleasure this Saturday of photographing the wedding of Sophie and Robert at the beautiful location of St Mary’s Church and Goldsborough Hall.  One of my favourite wedding venues is the picturesque Goldsborough Hall and was the ideal wedding location for Sophie & Robert.  Sophie and Robert first met at Ampleforth College where they were both students, and you may recall they chose Ampleforth as the location for their pre-wedding photoshoot.  I have worked at Ampleforth on may occasions.  Being set in a stunning valley and due to the couple’s history with Ampleforth it was a fitting location for their pre-shoot.

Sophie and Robert are a very well suited and lovely couple.  Everything about their wedding day was well planned, relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable.  From the church ceremony which Robert’s grandfather conducted, to the lovely weather, which was out of their control, the day flowed perfectly.

It was nice to see Deborah from Love Hair and Beauty in Ripon, whom I have worked with on many occasions, and who did all the hair and make-up for the bridal party.  It was also nice to know the stunning wedding cake was supplied by the awesome Blossom Tree Cake Company.  The floral bouquets and table decorations were created by Beamsley Blooms of Skipton which, as you will see from the photographs, were truly lovely.  The Event Music Company provided the evening entertainment with their Little Big Band.

I wish Sophie and Robert all the best for their married lives together.  It was an absolute pleasure to photograph their day for them and to get to know them.  Here is a selection of highlights from their wedding day for you to enjoy.

Jessica & Nick, Burn Hall Wedding, Yorkshire Wedding Photographer

This weekend I had the great pleasure in photographing the wedding of Jessica and Nick at Holy Trinity Church in Heworth followed by their reception at Burn Hall.  Jess and Nick could not have asked for a better day as it was glorious sunshine all day.  I photographed a wedding a few years ago at Holy Trinity Church and it was nice to photograph a wedding at the same church again.  It is quite light and photogenic inside the church and so I captured some lovely shots during the ceremony.  I then went with Jess and Nick into the centre of York, whilst the guests made their way to Burn Hall, to take some photographs of the two of them.  We chose a particularly quiet area of York to give the couple the opportunity to have some time together whilst I stayed in the background to capture some lovely moments between the two of them.  With both Jess and Nick being from York, it was nice to capture The Minster in the background, an iconic York landmark.

Burn Hall offered a relaxed and well planned wedding reception so there was plenty of opportunity for people to mingle, and the opportunity to easily organise the formal group photographs.  Also I could not write without mentioning Ethan, Jess and Nick’s son, who was a little treasure throughout the day.  He has quite a cheeky character, and the family are obviously very close.  I captured some lovely shots of him, a few of which are below.

I wish Jess and Nick all the best in their married lives together and here is a selection of highlights for you to enjoy.

Katherine & Robert, Goldsborough Hall Wedding, Yorkshire Wedding Photographer

I had the very great pleasure of photographing the wedding of Katherine and Robert at St Chad’s Church followed by their reception at the stunning Goldsborough Hall yesterday.  Katherine had chosen a very elegant wedding dress with a long veil, and looked radiant, while Robert togged out in navy suit with cream tie to match his cream coloured button hole looked very dapper.  In fact the whole wedding was very stylish from the white Rolls Royce wedding car to the floral bouquets and stylish elegant wedding cake.  All were fitting for the venues of choice, and the weather stayed kind for them to make the most of the stunning gardens of Goldsborough Hall.

You may recall a few weeks ago I posted some photographs from Katherine and Robert’s pre-wedding photoshoot at Fountains Abbey.  This was the ideal time to get to know the couple a little better and for them to get to know how I as a Yorkshire Wedding Photographer work on their wedding day.  When a person is somewhat reserved in nature, as Katherine is, you can be a little apprehensive about being photographed, which does not help if you are slightly nervous on your wedding day.  It was therefore lovely to see that Katherine was very relaxed and fully able to enjoy her wedding day and I was able to capture some lovely natural photographs as a result.

Katherine and Robert head off to Scotland today for the honeymoon and I wish them all the very best for their time away.  I look forward to catching up with them when they return.  In the meantime here is a selection of highlights from their wedding day for you to enjoy.

Ulyana and Daniel, Allerton Castle Wedding, Exclusive Wedding Photographer

I had the very great pleasure in photographing the wedding of Ulyana and Daniel yesterday at the absolutely amazing venue of Allerton Castle.  One of my favourite locations for a wedding, and one of the first venues I ever photographed a wedding at.  Allerton Castle has been lovingly restored over the past few years by Dr Rolph and his team, and it is to the highest of standards.  It is therefore no wonder that this venue attracts some of the loveliest weddings, and Ulyana and Daniel’s was no exception.

Ulyana and Daniel are a lovely couple who I had the pleasure of photographing for their pre-wedding photoshoot at Bolton Abbey back in March.  On that day it was overcast and damp, which if we had taken any notice of the weather forecast would have been the same yesterday.  Amazingly, the weather could not have been better when we needed it to be, only turning wet in the evening.

With Ulyana’s family being from Russia, there was a Russian element to the wedding with quite a number of speeches by friends and family.  It was really lovely to experience some of the Russian traditions, and one of the best speeches was given by Ulyana’s younger brother who gave a very moving and heartfelt speech.  Vodka also featured as part of the wedding day, though all in good taste.

Ulyana and Daniel have planned a trip to Bali for their honeymoon which sounds absolutely amazing.  I wish them a great time and look forward to hearing about it.  In the meantime here is a selection of photographs from their wedding day.

Megan and James, Grays Court Wedding, York Wedding Photographer

Megan and James, Grays Court Wedding, York Wedding Photographer

What a fantastic day for the marriage of Megan and James with their wedding ceremony at St Stephen’s Church in Acomb and wedding reception at Gray’s Court.  It was one of those weeks of checking the weather forecast and still being unsure as to what the day was going to be like.  The day before the weather looked grim and the morning of the wedding lived up to the forecast with very wet weather.  However by the time Megan travelled to the church, the rain had stopped, the sun came out, and pretty much all afternoon was spent basking in sunshine, just like it had been ordered.  I felt so pleased for Megan and James that they had great weather, and everyone made the most of it spending the time during the reception outside.  Megan and James had the opportunity to have some time to themselves taking a slow stroll in Minster Gardens where I had the opportunity to capture some lovely natural photographs of the two of them spending time together, taking it all in.  A wedding day passes so quickly that having that time to spend some time together allows a couple the opportunity to really take in the day.

Megan and James are a lovely couple.  I photographed them during their pre-wedding photoshoot at Castle Howard a few months ago, where I got to know them a little better, and I can truly say they are meant for each other.  They are so natural and relaxed in each others company, and not only were they able to make the most of the pre-wedding photoshoot, they were completely relaxed at being photographed by a York Wedding Photographer on their wedding day.

They are currently in Italy on their honeymoon and I can imagine they are having an absolutely fabulous time.  I look forward to hearing about it when they return.  In the meantime here is a selection of photographs from their wedding day for you to enjoy.

Holly and Richard, The Old Swan Hotel Wedding, Harrogate Wedding Photographer

Holly and Richard, The Old Swan Hotel Wedding, Harrogate Wedding Photographer

I had fabulous day on Friday photographing the wedding of Holly and Richard at St Robert’s Church and The Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate.  Holly and her four bridesmaids had quite a relaxing morning preparing for the wedding at Holly’s parents house, before travelling to the church in Harrogate.  Holly and her father travelled in his stunning TVR Griffith making quite an entrance.

The interior of the church was stunning and light and very conducive to photography.  With a balcony at the rear of the church I was able to get some height to take an impressive photograph of Holly and her father walking down the aisle as they entered the church and Richard seeing Holly for the first time.  Although not the family’s normal church or worship, which is currently undergoing renovation, St Robert’s Church was an excellent choice for an alternative location, being only five minutes away from the reception.

Following the ceremony photographs of the couple were taken in the valley gardens, where the weather held off to capture some lovely intimate moments.  It gave the couple 20 minutes or so to take time to take it all in, and to catch up with each other on what each other had been doing in the morning.  I think this time is valuable, and a great way to combine the couple having this time, and for me to capture some discrete, unobtrusive photographs of them together.  You may recall Holly and Richard’s pre-wedding photoshoot in Knaresborough which gave the couple a taster of how I work, and gave us the opportunity to get to know each other a little better so that on their wedding day the couple are more relaxed with having their photograph taken.

The Old Swan Hotel has some impressive period art deco architecture and caters well for a wedding day.  Needless to say everyone had a fantastic time and the photographs certainly capture that.  It was also a pleasure to meet with the bride’s mother again as I have known Shirley for quite a number of years, but it has been a little while since we last met.

I wish Holly and Richard a fantastic time on their honeymoon and I look forward to creating their wedding album design in due course.  In the meantime here is a selection of highlights from their wedding day for you to enjoy.

Sarah & Max, Goldborough Hall Wedding, Exclusive Wedding Photography

The morning after the beautiful wedding of Sarah and Max, and I have absolutely loved going though the photographs taken.  What a fabulous day for Sarah and Max and I thoroughly enjoyed being there and photographing their special day.  The day was one big party for them, their family and friends, and the photographs taken reflect the joyous occasion it was.  Goldsborough Hall was looking its best and one of the most stylish and best presented venues it has always set out to be.  Taking that bit of extra care and attention makes all the difference, and it always shows at Goldsborough Hall.

Sarah and Max had reasonably good weather for their wedding day.  Considering how warm it has been this last week, and the forecast for yesterday was to rain in the afternoon, the day was very pleasant, with a bit of a breeze, but ideal for a wedding day.

Sarah and Max are a lovely couple.  They have been together for 10 years and are very well suited and the speeches echoed these sentiments.  Since they were are University together one has always been regarded along with the other, and they are both very considerate and sensible in their approach to life, both achieving everything they set out to achieve.  It is of little surprise therefore their wedding day was such a well planned and thoroughly enjoyable day.  I wish them all the very best for their married lives together.

Please see below a selection of exclusive wedding photography taken of their wedding day.

What an amazing time of year to photograph a wedding and what a better day than New Year’s Eve.  Katie & Euan chose the beautiful Langley Castle in Northumberland as the venue for their wedding day, and considering the time of year, the weather was very favourable to them.  So much so we were able to take group photographs outside and capture some lovely photographs of Katie & Euan having some time to themselves in the grounds of Langley Castle.

Katie wore a stunning elegant bridal gown supplied by The Bridal Collection in Harrogate, whilst Euan donned his kilt given his Scottish roots.  With all the groomsmen in their kilts it really was a befitting outfit for the castle location of their wedding.  Everything was extremely well organised, and as a result very calm and relaxed, which made for an extremely enjoyable wedding day for everyone.  I was really touched by the kindness of both Katie & Euan’s family and friends at how welcome we were made to feel and very much appreciate everybody’s hospitality.

Some information regarding Katie & Euan’s wedding is Alan Best from AB Wedding Cars was the chauffeur for Katie, Nicole Alexander-Dent created the stunning floral bouquets, Graham Venus from Sticky Sponge was the cake maker of choice, Charlu was the band for the evening reception, and the DJ was Steve Todd.  A special mention must go to Carla at Langley Castle who was the wedding coordinator for the day and who was extremely hospitable, easy to work with and very well organised.

It has been great to get to know Katie & Euan and spend some time with them, not only on their wedding day, but also their pre-wedding photoshoot at Fountains Abbey a few months ago.  They are currently on honeymoon and I look forward to speaking with them when they return.  In the meantime please find below a selection of highlights from their wedding day.

I had the great pleasure of photographing the wedding of Lucie & John yesterday at the most delightful church in Nether Poppleton, St Everilda’s.  A very quaint old church and very photogenic, ideal for a wedding party of 60 guests.  I have previously photographed a wedding at St Everilda’s Church some three years ago for Sarah & Chris so it was great to return to the same church for the wedding of Lucie & John.

Allerton Castle was the chosen venue for their wedding reception, another one of my favourite venues.  With its distinct gothic style it certainly is a unique venue, ideal for an impressive wedding.  I always thoroughly enjoy working at Allerton Castle.  Dine Caterers were the caterers, organised and managed on the day by Craig who I always work well with.  I enjoy working with Dine as they do organise weddings very well.

Lucie & John’s wedding was very relaxed and well organised which made for a thoroughly enjoyable day.  The weather remained very calm and bright, yet overcast.  This time of year is lovely for holding a wedding due to the amazing changing colour in the trees, which makes for some very picturesque photographs.  You can see the difference a month makes as you may recall Lucie & John’s Museum Gardens pre-wedding photoshoot a few weeks ago.

It really was a lovely wedding day and I captured some lovely photographs of their day.  I very much appreciate being part of their day and sharing it with them.  Some information to help with the organisation of your wedding day was that the chauffeur driven beautiful Bentley was supplied by The Yorkshire Wedding Car Company, Kelly & Sarah from the Dutch Nurseries in Haxby created the stunning floral displays and bridal bouquets, The Bridal Affair were the suppliers of Lucie’s elegant Mark Lesley Bridalwear dress, Jon Starkey from Exclusive Entertainments was the DJ of choice who also provided the impressive fairy lights around the balcony in Allerton Castle, and the Mee Kats were the 1950’s style rock n roll band for the evening entertainment.

Lucie & John are on honeymoon and I look forward to speaking with them when they return.  In the meantime a selection of highlights from Lucie & John’s wedding can be seen below.
